The clubs run motocross events in Somerset, Devon and the surrounding counties for riders aged six through to adult and are committed to promoting the joy of MX to a wider audience. They see Wheeldon’s excellent indoor facilities as the ideal venue for the open day and will be fully supported by the MCFederation.
“We’re trying to promote motocross as a viable sporting activity within our community,” explains South Somerset Club Director Paul Williams. “Everyone involved in motocross knows what a great family activity it is but it’s up to clubs like us to get the message out there to a wider audience. The open day will be a good tool for us to let people know what it’s all about.”
The open day will cater for riders aged from six to adult where they can learn to ride an off-road motorcycle in a completely safe environment under expert supervision. All safety equipment will be provided with everyone getting 15 minutes on track with one-to-one tuition from qualified coaches. Away from the on-track action there will be a bouncy castle and full on-site catering to add to the family feel.
“It promises to be a great family day out,” adds MCF General Manager Roy Barton. “We’re delighted to be associated with such a forward-thinking club and here at the MCF we view open days such as these as a valuable tool in spreading the word about a sport we’re all so passionate about. Absolutely no experience is required prior to coming along and all of our trainers have experience working with complete newcomers to two-wheeled sport.”
The Wheeldon venue will be signposted off of the Diptford to Moreleigh Road, South West of Totnes. For sat navs use the co-ordinates N50º22.595, W003º46.061 to be led straight to the car park.
The open day costs £10 for children up to 16 and £15 for adults. For more information contact South Somerset MX Club;
