One of the MCF’s main objectives is to help the development of our sport and to do that we need to give youth motocross every opportunity to prosper and encourage riders with extra incentives to succeed. So we’ve got together with Fox Racing Europe and come up with a programme to help promising talent along the way – The Fox Boot camp!
It’s simple; our vision is to give young riders, who otherwise wouldn’t get an opportunity, to get supported. A MCF panel will select riders from each round of Red Bull Elite Youth Cup that we feel warrant a little bit of help and do not have a clothing sponsor. One lucky rider who deserves a shot because of extra effort, they’re cool, they’ve shown good sportsmanship or they’re just an all round nice kid! For their efforts those selected riders then get rewarded with an exclusive Fox Pro plate at an end of the day presentation and are then given a Fox clothing deal for the next race.
At that following race, before they ride they’ll be presented with a Fox kit bag packed with a pair of race pants, gloves and fully printed race jersey with their name, number, Red Bull Elite Youth Cup and Fox Boot camp logos. Their picture will then appear on the Elite Youth Cup and Fox Europe websites and all corresponding media.
Each winning rider will then go into the Fox Boot Camp at the end of the racing season. That will be an exclusive track day with Fox Europe pro athletes coming along to give the riders coaching tips, hang out and jam with the lads! Then a selection panel of MCF, Fox staff and those pro riders will choose the winner who’ll become a fully supported Fox rider for 2011 like previous winners Jake Millward and Sid Evans. Like ‘The Highlander’ there can only be one! And to be that one they need courage, talent and conviction to stand out from the crowd.
The whole day will be filmed and each rider will be given a copy of the DVD to remember the day. A day we’d like to think that one rider will remember for a very long time to come. The day they became a Fox sponsored athlete. It’s the motocross equivalent of winning the golden ticket to visit Willy Wonker’s chocolate factory, only without the chocolate and the Umpa-lumpa’s! But if we get hold of them we will!
