RED BULL PRO NATIONALS
ROUND 9
18TH & 19TH SEPTEMBER
WAKES COLNE, ESSEX
Not only one of Essex’s most famous tracks but also one of Britain’s. This place has seen some memorable races in its history and saw the 2009 Red Bull Pro Nationals champions crowned. Spread over two adjoining low valleys the track utilises the landscape to the full. Off the top of the hills there’s some great launch out and step up style jumps. The soil has wonderful variation. One side of the circuit certainly has more soil than the other but there’s also a short sand section that gets deep holes and needs focus from the riders. On the whole the soil edges more towards hard pack but due to the creative lay out there’s plenty of opportunity for good bar to bar racing. Viewing is top notch too.
Postcode: CO6 2BH
Directions:
Not the simplest of tracks to find, but traditionally it’s always well signposted as it’s off the beaten track a little. It’s off tiny country lanes from the A1124 between Halstead and Colchester in Essex. Once you’ve come to the big arches of the railway bridge in Wakes Colne you’ll find yourself from there.
